Senate to Hear Package of IDD Provider Reform Bills
A package of bills on wage parity, Medicaid reimbursement and licensing for IDD providers comes before the Senate health committee this month.
Research

A new study from a New Jersey research team followed families through the months between a first developmental concern and the start of treatment. The researchers found that brief, coached play sessions at home improved joint attention and reduced caregiver stress, even before formal services began.
The approach is deliberately simple: fifteen minutes a day of following the child’s lead, narrating what they do and pausing to invite a response. Caregivers received four coaching sessions by video call and a printed guide.
Autism New Jersey has summarised the study’s practical recommendations in the Knowledge Hub. The full report is linked below; as always, talk with your child’s clinician before changing an existing programme.
